That is the question. The answer however can be very simple. First, you need to ask yourself if you’re happy with your current machine. Second, can you afford a new computer. Thirdly, you need to know if your current computer is benefiting or complicating your life.
Many users seem to get very frustrated using their computer, I see it happen on a daily basis. To me, if I’m using something for more than a few hours a day, it’s a pretty important part of my everyday life. I can easily justify replacing a computer if I get frustrated or if it is complicating my computer experience. Computers were invented to make our lives easier and to provide an experience that can’t be replicated elsewhere. If you’re simply unhappy with the performance and the operation of your computer, you should replace it or if it’s new enough, repair the computer.
This rolls directly into our next dilema, if you can afford a new computer? Computers are getting pretty cheap. There are good computers for decent prices, and very inexpensive cheaply built computers that are NOT worth the money. Most nicely equipped desktops run around $450 – $800. Laptops around $500 – $1,000. We see people from time to time invest too much money into older computers, even though we may recommend a customer to replace the unit, they continue to nickel and dime themselves to death. If your computer is vital to your work or is your main form of entertainment and communication, you probably can bite the bullet and buy a new one.
New computers are pretty nice, Windows 7 is awesome! Most consumers that end up getting newer machines are really happy and satisfied with their purchase. If your old computer is giving you grief and not allowing you to perform tasks in a timely manner, try out a new machine, getting a great computer makes a world of a difference. It’s always a great feeling to have things just work. I hear it everyday “I just want it to work”, just like everything in life, there comes a time to evaluate the problem and look into replacing the problem, remember changes don’t happen on their own, YOU have to make the change.
